materials: larger version on the same map from the homework page, paper dolls of Julie-Minsu-Zeeto. for each table: whiteboard, eraser, dry-erase marker.
Greetings: Check Homework, hand-on review with map on board.
Activity: Reverse Directions.
Newlywed game style.
Each table should have: whiteboard, eraser, dry-erase marker
Using the map on their homework, students should listen to teacher's directions.
Then, as a group, they can decide on the location I am talking about. Is it the 7-11? the bank? the flowershop? After they've revealed their answers, we go over the directions with the paper dolls on the board.

This lesson will be demonstrated for Open Class with 5-4 class helping out!
Set up classroom in a circle. kids come in as groups, put their books on the table, and sit together in chairs around the circle.

What do you say when you don't understand what someone just said?
GAME: Play ZIP...ZAP...SORRY?
Time the students. they will be excited to try and beat the other classes, so keep score all day on the board. The first time is JUST with the ZIP...the second, add the ZAP going the opposite direction.

(2반) 14:40 *played the more complicated version with them, to test it out.

Let's Read! students should hear the word and point to the picture in their book. You can have the kids think up sentences using the words. (ex; what a small bird!)
Let's Write! practice writing the letters Pp-Tt
emphasize CAPITAL vs. LOWER CASE (the dvd says large & small, so I turn down the volume and do the talking for this on my own)
GAME: "No it's not!" a variation of the popluar game B.S. bullsh*t) have your co-teacher help explain this game if you can! have the first class cut out the lesson 4 cards from the back of the book, and save them for the following classes. this will save precious time later on!)
students follow the order of the un-cut page. tall tower, tall boy, big cow...etc.
if they don't have the card they need, they can lie and put something else down. if the other students think you're lying, they will say, "No it's not!" and check your card.
if you were lying, you take ALL the cards in the pile.
if you were truthful, the accuser must take ALL the cards in the pile.
objective, put down all your cards!
it's a great game to play with any size group, because the kids MUST use their english vocabulary in order to play the game!

sing, "There are 7 days in the week!"

Chant: look at the window, look at the door! Look up; look down, look at the board!
quickly review the power point from last period.
phrases: Look at the ____ (sky)__!
What?/What a ___! students will change the words I say, "It is cute" to a !!! sentence. ex) "What a cute cat!"
do this until you get to the tall tower. teach the tall tower song.
(to the tune of the camp song --a pizza hut! a pizza hut! kentucky fried chicken and a pizza hut! MCDONALDS MCDONALDS! kentucky fried chicken and a pizza hut! )
I changed the words to this:

Lesson objectives: Exclamative expressions, use of adjectives in these sentences.
Vocabulary: tall, short, big, small, sky, tower, bird, city
New Key phrases:
"Look at the _____!"should be pretty familiar to them by now. I am starting each class in this lesson with a chant that goes, "Look at the window, look at the door! Look up; look down, look at the board!"
using powerpoint, kids practice, "Look at ____!" use some shocking pictures.

Start by explaining the difference between What? and What!
Have students come up with other questions that start with WHAT?
...what is your name?
...what is that?!?
now go back to the powerpoint, Look at the cat!
this cat is from a previous lesson. it is what? CUTE!
let's try our new phrase: "What a cute cat!"

5.3.1 It's Under the Table

Greeting:

Go through a prepositional progression of powepoint pictures--allthewhile the kids are drawing & writing in their notebooks--until we get to this:


...and this is exactly how their journal entry should look!

Sing (to the tune of ABCDEFG...) with hand motions, "beside, under, in, on-on..." start out slow, and get faster. they like to see if they can do it super-fast. and you get points if you can do it fast, but they'll laugh if you mess it up.

Watch the video, talk about Who, what, and where?
Listen & Repeat (this'll be a fast one)
Game:materials: pencil & pencilcase, cloth to cover, dry erase boards 1 for each table. Kids must guess as a group and write it down, newlywed game style, "Where is the pencil?" EX) the pencil is ON the pencilcase!" winners get to leave class first.

5.2.4 Review; Days of the week, CAP/lower-case

Greeting: Did you bring...
Throw the ball and ask the students questions,
"How are you?" "What's your name?" "How's the weather?"
...for students who are advanced, throw a toughy in there...

Sing there are 7 days in the week to the tune of Oh my darlin' Clementine there.

Review "Look" as a directional verb, "look at...the window" versus as a describing mechanism, "you look...happy." (use powerpoint)

Textbook, p 23 students should be writing the DATE on every paper possible, now. in the book, in their journals, EVERYTHING.

PLAY memory card game; (materials: cards 1 side Sun-Sat in eng & hangeul + a few more words...on the other side, CAPITAL and lower-case A-L letters velcro works well for this)
First, go through and chant CAPITAL A-L
Each group can choose one card from the capital group and one from the lower-case group. they must all chant together, twice, before I turn the card over.
...very fun, once the kids start getting near misses, they get really wound up.
the winners of the game get to leave class a few second before everyone else.
