5.4.3 Reading & Writing

Greeting: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow
"Is it a nice day today?"
sing: "What a tall tower."
DVDROM:
textbook p36. count. start with 30. 31,32,33,34,35,36! page 36 please!
Let's Read! students should hear the word and point to the picture in their book. You can have the kids think up sentences using the words. (ex; what a small bird!)
Let's Write! practice writing the letters Pp-Tt
emphasize CAPITAL vs. LOWER CASE (the dvd says large & small, so I turn down the volume and do the talking for this on my own)
GAME: "No it's not!" a variation of the popluar game B.S. bullsh*t) have your co-teacher help explain this game if you can! have the first class cut out the lesson 4 cards from the back of the book, and save them for the following classes. this will save precious time later on!)
students follow the order of the un-cut page. tall tower, tall boy, big cow...etc.
if they don't have the card they need, they can lie and put something else down. if the other students think you're lying, they will say, "No it's not!" and check your card.
if you were lying, you take ALL the cards in the pile.
if you were truthful, the accuser must take ALL the cards in the pile.
objective, put down all your cards!
it's a great game to play with any size group, because the kids MUST use their english vocabulary in order to play the game!
hand out homework and say goodbye
