5.7.3 Reading & Writing

Theres a lot of writing today!!!
Start by reading Step & Jump 3times: eng-eng, eng-kor, kor-eng
PLAY guess the animal (PPT 5.7.3)
Take out NOTEBOOKS and write along as the teacher pulls out flashcards for them to read. English, Korean, & draw a picture

Vocabulary: big, small, face, mouth, nose, hair, ears, eyes, short, long
place cards word-side up in front of the screen.
Writing activity



Look at the picture, and use two vocabulary words + He/She is/has ____ _____.



to write a sentence about the pic.

here are some examples to the RIGHT. the last one is a trick. the Students must write
He is a nose.
then they can draw a picture.
1) He is a nose.
2) He has a nose.
If they can do this without help, then I konw I've taught them well.
When their whole group has finished writing, their group will read together then they can go.

Play Reverse Pictionary
using describing words we learned last week, and He/She is/has ____.
The one student will stand on the stage and look at the teacher computer.
they will shout back describing words to their calssmates, who will try to draw a good picture. After they're done, each group will select what they think is the best picture, and bring it to the teacher. #1 group will get 5 points, #2 will get 4, and so on.
))if they talk english and teacher hears, -1 point.
))if they step off the stage, they're out!


***they had a lot of fun with this one, AND I am going to save the pics they made and use it for special class kids, who will create a persona story for the drawings now. ****

5.7.1 She's tall, lesson #1

Review Last Lesson's Vocabulary by asking questions and tossing the ball around

Read step & jump 3x: eng-eng, eng-kor, kor-eng

One boy & girl Stand up

New vocabulary, go over I AM, HE IS, SHE IS (HAS will come later)



Use the PPT presentation w/ pics to get kids using the new words

Thumbs up/down, is this a good/bad sentence?

"She is old" (thumbs up!)

"She is gray hair." (they should thumbs down!) WHY???

this is when we can explain the difference between IS and HAS




DESCRIPTION CHALLENGE

as a group kids look at a picture and give me a sentence

Survey Activity(http://www.creativechalk.com/) 1st, fill out page 1 then, go around and ask your classmates these questions IN ENGLISH if I hear you talking in English, I will give you a small sticker 1 small sticker = 1 point for your team for each person you survey, you get 1 point, too.

5.6.1 I Get Up at Seven Everyday

Greetings Class! check textbooks
COUNT! Turn to page 48
Look at the schedule, review time from last year.
__-o'clock = :00
And so on.
Ask questions--what time does Joon get up? yada yada

Remind the kids of AT--
at the bank
at school,
Now we can use it for TIME, too! YAAY!
at 7:00

Watch one time.
Look at new vocabulary:
everyday, 매일
breakfast
lunch
dinner
study
homework
bed
have, get, go to, do

Go over each word together, have the students write in their notebooks, English-Hangul
explain that the RED words are ACTION, and if you want to make one of the BLACK words an ACTION, then you MUST have a RED attatched to it.
homework = do homework
bed = go to bed = sleep
lunch = eat lunch/have lunch

Watch Joon explain his day one more time.

5.5.4 Review

Greeting: Good morning class!
Sing: Where is Namdaemun?
ACTIVITY: work in pairs on page 46:
on Map#1, secretly write bank, school, tower, church
then work with a partner: s1: "Where is the church?"
s2: gives directions
s1: writes the words down on Map#2, when they're all finished, check and see if they're all in the right place.

TO ENCOURAGE ENGLISH-ONLY SPEAKING IN THIS ACTIVITY, i WALK AROUND WITH LITTLE STAR-INCENTIVE STICKERS. AND JUST PUT IT ON THE PAPERS OF THE KIDS WHO ARE DOING WELL.

Review: turn to page 47. Listen & fill in the blanks.
