5.13.3&4 What did you do yesterday? Reading, Writing, Review

Check books & homework.
Review homework by going over past tense of words on homework sheet
D.O.L.

Sing the past tense song from last week, but this time, make it a competition.
delete on set of words at a time until all you see onthe screen is I's and blanks.
if the kids don't remember the words, they must sit down.
record the number of students still standing @ end of activity.
Review vocab w/ PPt "What did you do yesterday?"

Students are given a set of letters w/ numbers assigned.
using the 'code,' they must figure out what word we are spelling.
Remind students there will still be a spelling test on /oo/ words next class

note: this is a tough lesson for the kids. a lot of new material and it's past tense grrr...
take it easy, try to allow for breaks ie, stand up turn around, sit down, continue type stuff-- nothing that takes too long in this one.
also, there will be more time to emph. the past tense in future lessons, so focus in this lesson in getting the comprehensive knowledge of the scenarios and understanding key phrases.
